For those of you in Providence, tonight (Thursday, 12/10) is the opening for Jo’s show The Uses and Misuses of Animal Spirits at 5 Traverse Gallery from 7-9pm. And across the country tomorrow, Martine will be having her opening in Seattle at Nancy from 6-9pm. Fun, food, and great art abound!

Our officemates at McSweeney’s have worked their butts off to produce a full-color broadsheet newspaper replete with magazine, book section, and comics and it finally hits the streets today (Tuesday, 12/8)! You can get your copy at ground central (849 Valencia Street between 19th and 20th) and congratulate them on a job well done. Plus it’s on sale for $5 today! You can also find it at other fine stores and even newsies, just check out the Bay Area map.

Event: APE with Lilli & Martine!

If you’re in San Francisco this weekend, please join us at the Alternative Press Expo. We’ll be at booth 415 offering special show discounts and hanging with some lovely out-of-town guests: Lilli Carre from Chicago and Martine Workman from Seattle! Lilli will be signing copies of her Little Otsu book Nine Ways to Disappear and brand new print. She’ll also have some screenprints and Trubble Club minis. Martine will be signing copies of her Little Otsu mini Water and Fall and will have some of her fun handmade minis like Conversating, Cheek to Cheek, and the hilarious Hunks.

And be sure to check out other LO artists who will be at APE. Joey Sayers will be sharing a table with Minty Lewis and Damien Jay (booth 423) and Jeremy Tinder will be floating around somewhere, but will definitely be at the opening for his show with Grant Reynolds at Giant Robot on Saturday night.

Jo curated an animation program, Experimental Animation, for the new Citizen Jane Film Festival taking place in Columbia, MO this weekend, October 16th-18th. She’ll be there presenting her program, showing her new animation, participating in some panels and workshops, and will have copies of her book Quietly Sure – Like the Keeper of a Great Secret for sale. She’s also showing a new Lilli Carré short (Head Garden) in her program and will have some Nine Ways to Disappear as well. Check it out!
